Abbey Road

London's Abbey Road is where the Beatles recorded their Abbey Road album, with the now-iconic album cover taken on the zebra crossing outside the studio.

Tucked away in the leafy St. John's Wood area of Northwest London, Abbey Road is undoubtedly one of the city's most famous streets thanks it its close ties to music royalty. It is the home of Abbey Road Studios is one of the most iconic recording studios in the world. Founded in 1931, it was the world’s first purpose-built recording studio with Studio One modeled after a concert hall to capture orchestral recordings with exceptional clarity.

It is of course, inextricably linked with the Beatles, who recorded almost all of their albums there between 1962 and 1970. The studio became their creative playground, where they experimented with groundbreaking techniques and sounds. Legendary albums like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The White Album, and Abbey Road (named after the studio) were recorded here. The Abbey Road zebra crossing (outside the studio) became world-famous after it was featured on the cover of the Abbey Road album in 1969. Beyond the Beatles, Abbey Road has hosted an impressive roster of artists including Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Adele, Oasis and Ed Sheeran.
