Dolby Theatre

The former 'Kodak Theater' is famed for its architectural elegance and is home to the annual Academy Awards.

The Dolby Theatre, located in the heart of Hollywood at the Hollywood & Highland Center, is best known as the home of the annual Academy Awards (Oscars) ceremony. Opened in 2001, this state-of-the-art venue was designed specifically to host high-profile events, with a seating capacity of over 3,400 and cutting-edge acoustics and lighting technology.

The theatre was originally called the Kodak Theatre until 2012, when Dolby Laboratories acquired the naming rights. The Dolby Theatre has since become synonymous with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night, where the world’s most famous actors and filmmakers walk the red carpet each year.

In addition to the Oscars, the Dolby Theatre has hosted numerous other events, including live concerts, Broadway-style shows, and premieres. Productions like Cirque du Soleil's Iris and major acts like Adele and Prince have performed on its stage, making it a major venue for entertainment beyond just film.

The theatre's stunning architecture and grand staircases make it a key landmark for visitors to Los Angeles, offering public tours where guests can explore its luxurious interiors and learn about its role in Hollywood's award season. Located right on the historic Hollywood Boulevard, it’s a must-see for anyone interested in the film industry.
