RiNo Art District

Denver’s RiNo Art District (short for River North) is one of the city’s most vibrant, creative, & rapidly-evolving neighbourhoods full of colourful street art.

RiNo is one of Denver's most dynamic neighbourhoods, a former industrial area transformed into a creative hub. Just north of downtown Denver, it is renowned for its colourful murals that have transformed the area into an open-air gallery. Nearly every building is covered with massive vibrant murals, many of them painted during the CRUSH Walls Festival, a yearly street art event that brings in local and international artists. Originally developed as a manufacturing and warehouse district in the late 19th century, post-WWII industrial decline hit the area hard, and River North became characterised by abandoned warehouses and empty lots. In the early 2000s, artists began moving into the large, affordable industrial spaces and "River North Art District" was formally established in 2005.

Since then, RiNo has undergone a remarkable transformation, with street art becoming a defining characteristic. The district saw a major wave of investment and redevelopment and today, visitors can find a blend of trendy restaurants and breweries and modern apartment buildings and coworking spaces in addition to public art installations and murals. The annual CRUSH Walls Festival brings local and international muralists to the district every year to create new works.
