Departing directly from your hotel, you’ll settle into your private transportation with an experienced driver-guide at your disposal for the entire day. Your day begins in Reims, the most important city within the Champagne-Ardenne region, with a visit to a renowned Champagne house such as Taittinger, Pommery, Moët & Chandon, or Veuve Clicquot. Here, you’ll be introduced to the meticulous production process and descend into the remarkable chalk cellars where millions of bottles age in perfect conditions. Afterwards, you’ll get the chance to explore Reims itself, walking through its historic streets and visiting the magnificent Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture where generations of French kings have been crowned. There will also be time for a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant (lunch not included), where you can sample some of Champagne’s top-notch regional cuisine.
In the afternoon, the journey continues to the picturesque town of Épernay, often regarded as the capital of Champagne and recognised by UNESCO for its extensive network of underground wine cellars. You’ll make your way along the illustrious Avenue de Champagne, lined with grand mansions that house some of the most prestigious names in the industry, before paying a visit to another lesser-known Champagne producer, where you’ll enjoy an intimate tour and tasting hosted by the owner. This offers you an intriguing contrast to the grandes maisons and a chance to appreciate Champagne on a more personal scale. As the day draws to a close, you can relax on the return journey to Paris, having enjoyed a comprehensive and indulgent introduction to Champagne.
